THE FLORIDA HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

In the state of Florida, a $25,000 exemption is applied to the first $50,000 of your property’s assessed value if your property is your permanent residence and you owned the property on January 1 of the tax year. This exemption applies to all taxes, including school district taxes. An additional exemption of up to $25,000 will be applied if your property’s assessed value is between at least $50,000 and $75,000. This exemption is not applied to school district taxes.

Application for all exemptions must be made between January 1 and March 1 of the tax year. However, at
the option of the property appraiser, original homestead exemption applications may be accepted after March 1,
but will apply to the succeeding year. Application should be made to the property appraiser’s office. Subsequent
yearly renewal of exemption status may be made by mail. Failure to make application by March 1 of the tax year
shall constitute a waiver of the exemption privilege for that year.

Attention all soon-to-be Floridians!

Are you ready to embark on an exciting new chapter in the Sunshine State? Well, buckle up because I’ve got some invaluable tips to make your move to Florida as smooth as possible!

First things first, it’s time to declutter and downsize. Yup, that means tackling those closets, basements, and attics that have been hiding all your forgotten treasures. Take this opportunity to sort through your belongings and decide what to keep, donate, or sell. Trust me, you’ll thank me later when you realize how much lighter your load is.

Next up, don’t procrastinate! Starting early is key, my friend. Give yourself ample time to pack thoughtfully and carefully. It’s not a race, so take it slow and steady. This will help you avoid any last-minute panic or hasty decisions. Plus, you’ll have more time to enjoy those farewell parties with your loved ones.

Now, let’s talk about packing like a pro. One word: labeling. Don’t just throw everything in boxes willy-nilly. Be organized and label each box with specific details about its contents. Trust me, when you’re exhausted from unpacking, you’ll be grateful for those labels that save you from rummaging through every single box to find your favorite coffee mug.

Lastly, tackling the packing process can seem overwhelming, so break it down into manageable chunks by focusing on one room at a time. Start with the rooms you use the least or those filled with non-essential items. Gradually make your way towards the more frequently used areas. This method not only keeps your stress levels in check but also allows for a more systematic unpacking process once you arrive at your new Florida home.

So, my fellow adventurers, save these tips and refer back to them when you’re ready to embark on your journey to the land of endless summers, stunning beaches, and breathtaking sunsets. Trust me, with a little planning and preparation, your move to Florida will be one for the books!

Let the countdown begin for your move to Florida!

Moving To Florida Guide To Help Make Your Move Simpler

Moving to Florida was such an exciting chapter in my life, and you won’t believe all the incredible perks that come with living in the Sunshine State!

From breathtaking beaches to world-renowned attractions, Florida offers endless possibilities for adventure and relaxation. Whether you’re a nature lover, a thrill-seeker, or a history enthusiast, this state has something for everyone.

One of the first steps I took to make Florida my new home was establishing residency in this vibrant state. Not only does it allow me to get a shiny new driver’s license and register my vehicles, but being a resident also comes with extra benefits like exclusive access to certain parks and in-state tuition at colleges and universities.

Becoming a resident in Florida can be accomplished through various means, such as renting or buying a house or apartment, being employed locally, registering to vote, owning a business, or having children enrolled in a primary or secondary school in the state. Every little action that solidifies your presence here contributes to establishing you as a permanent resident.

For tax and legal purposes, spending more than183 days or 6 months out of a 12-month period in Florida is generally considered a benchmark for residency.

Florida is not just a place to call home; it’s a year-round playground for incredible adventures! Florida offers a vibrant mix of pro sports, amusement parks, picturesque beaches, and breathtaking natural beauty to indulge in. From exploring the iconic Kennedy Space Center to immersing yourself in the magic of Disney World and the seemingly never ending thrills of Universal Studios, there’s never a dull moment for kids and the young at heart. Trust me, the smiles and memories made here are unmatched!

Being blessed with diverse climates, Florida treats its residents to hot and humid summers and delightfully mild winters. So, whether you love basking under the sun or prefer a more temperate climate, this state has you covered.

Now, moving to a new state may seem overwhelming, but worry not! I’ve got you covered with this list of services links page.
